Student of the Week Activities
The Thursday before your child is SOW, you'll receive a letter in your child's Thursday Folder reminding you of the following activities:
Monday: ASSEMBLY & POSTER: You'll be honored at the Monday Assembly (in the cafeteria) and given a yard sign to put in your yard all week. Your parents are welcome to join us for the assembly! Once we're in class, you will share your Student of the Week poster (that has photos and/or other info about the things your hobbies, your family, etc.). We'll display your poster on the SOW bulletin board.
Tuesday: FAVORITE BOOK: Bring & read a favorite picture book (or have Ms. Georgákis read it to the class if you'd rather). If it's a chapter book, you can read a favorite part or page (less than 10 minutes). I encourage you to practice reading the story aloud at home before reading it in class. Another option is to give a Book Talk and share what the book is about (without giving away the ending).
Wednesday: SHOW & TELL: Bring something special to school that you would love to show and discuss with the class. (It can't be a cell phone, a computer, a video game, etc.) We are excited to see what you bring. (You may bring multiple items, but you will only have about 5 minutes for your total presentation.)
Thursday: PARENT LETTER. Mrs G. reads your "Parent Letter". (Your parents should send the letter in a sealed envelope or email. The letter should describe some of the things that your parents adore about you and/or describe fun or funny memories of you from when you were younger. The note can be in the form of a letter, song, poem, or anything else!
Friday: BUDDY LUNCH: Choose a friend (from our class or another 3rd grade class) to sit with you at lunch!
